New Delhi, June 14: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is embroiled in a controversy after posters referring to former prime minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee's health were seen at the party's protest march outside Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal's office. A poster that read, "Dilli maange Atal se pehle Anil ki chhutti (Delhi wants Anil to go before Atal)," was reportedly seen at the AAP protest on Wednesday.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has flayed the AAP for the posters. Delhi BJP leader Manoj Tiwary was quoted by Times of India as saying, “Vajpayee is a father figure for millions of Indians. Only people of Arvind Kejriwal’s party can have such contemptuous and denigrative banners and posters in their rally to get cheap publicity."
The AAP also came under attack on the social media as people accused it of 'cheap politics'. Meanwhile, the AAP has distanced itself from the poster. Ankit Lal, AAP’s social media strategist, took to Twitter and said, “This is not something we subscribe to as a party.” AAP leaders have also said that the poster is a controversy by the Opposition parties.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was admitted to AIIMS on Monday evening after suffering a urine infection. On Wednesday, the AIIMS administration said that the former PM was responding to treatment and should be fine to go home in the next few days.
