Mumbai, May 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to celebrate as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was headed towards a historic victory. As per the Election Commission trends, the BJP was leading on its own on 299 seats. PM Modi, set for a second term as the Prime Minister, tweeted saying India had won yet again. "Together we grow. Together we prosper. Together we will build a strong and inclusive India. India wins yet again," Modi tweeted. Voting for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 was held in the country in seven phases between April 11 and May 19. The counting of votes began 8 am and the final results will be out by Thursday evening. The Congress was leading in just about 50 seats.

BJP President Amit Shah had said at the beginning of the campaigning for Lok Sabha elections 2019 that the party would win more than 300 seats this election. The exit polls had also predicted more than 330 seats for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
