PM Narendra Modi Takes a Dig at Congress, Says 'Rafale Deal Had No Quattrocchi or Michel, That's Why They Are Scared'
The BJP stalwart also claimed that Congress party is neither bothered about the welfare of security forces, nor have faith in the Supreme Court judgments.
Rae Bareli, December 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hit at the Congress party by accusing them of compromising the nation’s security by appointing foreign middlemen like Ottavio Quattrocchi and Christian Mickel in defence deals. He also claimed that Congress party is neither bothered about the welfare of security forces, nor have faith in the Supreme Court judgments.
Addressing a gathering – while flagging off the 900th coach and a Humsafar Rake of Modern Coach factory in Rae Bareli – PM Modi said, “Today there are two sides before the country. One side is the government that is trying to strengthen our forces. The other side that wants to weaken our forces at any cost. Hitting at the Congress for doubting on Supreme Court’s verdict on Rafale deal, he accused that the previous UPA government appoint corrupt middlemen like Quattrocchi and Christian Mickel in defence deals.
The Prime Minister said, “Congress' history in defence deals is that of uncle Quattrocchi. Helicopter scam accused Christian Michel was brought to the country a few days ago. Everyone saw how Congress sent their lawyer to save him.” Adding more, he said that Congress party has even doubts on Indian Army’s Surgical strikes. The Premier said, “The people of the party that raises questions on surgical strikes, trust enemy’s claims more than our Army, what can be expected of them?”
Claiming that the BJP-led government insured 50,000 bulletproof jackets for the soldiers in 2016 and cleared ‘One Rank, One Pension’, PM Modi stated that Congress is a party which believes in exploiting the nation’s resources. Among other things, Narendra Modi stated when his government took office in 2014, around Rs 6 lakh crore farm loan was pending of farmers and they (BJP) implemented the MS Swaminathan Committee report to hike the MSP of crops. He also boasted about his government’s schemes like Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Make in India and others.
Ending his speech, PM Modi claimed that his government is continuously working for the development of the nation and is bothered about every individual. He said, “We only have one motto - development for everyone. To ensure that we have been working tirelessly through day and night.”
