New Delhi, June 26: Prime Minister on Wednesday during his reply to the "Motion Of Thanks On the President's Address" in the Rajya Sabha expressed grief over the recent lynching incident in Jharkhand. PM Modi said that he was pained by the incident. He also targeted the opposition for blaming the entire state for the incident. PM Modi stated, “It has saddened others too. But, some here in the Rajya Sabha are calling Jharkhand a hub of lynching. Is this fair? Why are they insulting a whole state? None of us have the right to insult the state of Jharkhand.”
On June 18, a 22-year-old Muslim youth Tabrez Ansari was lynched in Kharsawan district of Jharkhand on the suspicion of theft. Ansari was beaten by mob mercilessly for over 18 hours before being handed over to the police. He later succumbed to his injuries. The victim was also forced to chant "Jai Shri Ram" and "Jai Hanuman". The incident sparked massive outrage among various sections of the community.

Prime Minister Modi also launched a scathing attack on the opposition, especially the Congress over various issues. During his address in the Rajya Sabha, PM Modi said that the Congress was not able to digest Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) victory in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. Speaking on the EVM issue, the Prime Minister stated, “Election Commission had invited parties on the issue of EVMs but just two parties accepted- CPI and NCP. I appreciate them for going to EC to learn more about the issue. The PM also said that the opposition has a problem with digitalisation. He stated, “Those opposing EVMs are not only opposed to EVMs. They have problems with technology, digital transactions, Aadhaar, GST, Bhim App. Why such negativity? This negativity was one of the chief reasons why some parties have not been able to win people's trust.” PM Modi further added that the BJP was succeeded in the general election due to hard work and gained the trust of the people of the nation.
While speaking on the One Nation, One Poll, PM Modi attacked the opposition for showing negative attitude. He said, “people may not like the idea or have inputs on this. But, it is important to present these ideas and have discussions on the subject.” He also expressed grief over the recent deaths in Bihar due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome.
The PM began his speech in the Rajya Sabha by paying tributes to Rajasthan BJP chief Madanlal Saini, who died on June 24. He also prayed for the good health and quick recovery of former union minister Arun Jaitley.
