New Delhi, April 28: Bollywood actor turned politician, Sunny Deol, on Sunday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, days after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Deol joined the BJP on April 23 and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was present at the time of Deol joining the party. The Prime Minister tweeted an image with the actor after their meeting. PM Modi also shared one of the famous dialogues from Sunny Deol's film Gadar, "Hindustan Zinda Tha, Hai aur Rahega." Sunny Deol Joins BJP, Likely to Contest Lok Sabha Elections 2019 from Gurdaspur.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote after meeting Sunny Deol that the actor's "humility and deep passion for a better India," struck him the most.

The Prime Minister also said that the BJP is rooting for Deol's victory in Gurdaspur.
However, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, when asked about Sunny Deol's entry in politics and him fighting the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections from Gurdaspur, said that the actor stood no chance of winning against Punjab Congress president Sunil Kumar Jakhar. Polling on Gurdaspur seat will take place on May 19.
