Mathura, September 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Mathura today, on Wednesday, to launch the National Animal Disease Control programme and the National Artificial Insemination Programme. On his visit to Mathura, the Prime Minister was seen spending time with the livestock as Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath looked on. The Prime Minister's visit to Mathura is seen as a step toward his poll promise of doubling farmers income. The motive behind introducing the National Animal Disease Control Programme is to eliminate the Foot and Mouth Disease and Brucellosis in livestock from Mathura. "With 100 percent funding from the Central Government of Rs 12,652 Crores for a period of five years till 2024, the programme aims at vaccinating over 500 Million Livestock against the Foot and Mouth Disease," reported DD News. "Prime Minister shall also be launching the National Artificial Insemination Programme. Also expected is the simultaneous launch of the nationwide workshops in KrishiVigyanKendras in all the 687 Districts of the country on the topic of vaccination, disease management, artificial insemination and productivity," tweeted PMO.
The Prime Minister in his speech called for total boycott of single plastic use and said, "We need to make efforts to rid our homes, offices, and workplaces of single-use plastic by October 2, 2019. I appeal to self help groups, civil society, individuals and others to join this mission."
