Jammu, February 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Jammu and Kashmir on a day-long visit, lauded about the various initiatives taken by the government to foster growth and development in the state. The Prime Minister said that India has left behind the culture of delays and in the next five years, this culture of delays will be uprooted from the system. Talking about the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Act, he said he is extremely happy about the changes that have been made to Act as the council has been given more rights concerning the expenditures.
The Prime Minister started his visit by addressing a public meeting in Leh wearing a Ladakhi gown and headgear. "I’m happy that changes have been made to Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Act. Now the Autonomous Council releases the money sent for the region’s development", he added. In his address, the Prime Minister greeted the audience in Ladakhi language. He said Ladakh is the land of brave people. "Whether it was 1947, 1962 or the Kargil conflict, the brave people of Ladakh have always defended the sovereignty and integrity of India", he said. During his visit today, the Prime Minister is slated to inaugurate developmental projects and officially kickstart the BJP's Lok Sabha poll campaign in the state. Modi said he was humbled by the blessings of elderly mothers who came to receive him on my arrival braving the cold. "I promise to return your warmth with full interest through the development of this region," Modi added. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the first ever business process outsourcing (BPO) unit in Bandipora district.
According to reports, the Prime Minister is also slated to lay the foundation stones for developmental projects worth Rs 35,000 crore. He will later begin the Bharatiya Janata Party's Lok Sabha poll campaign in Jammu division by addressing a mega public rally in Vijaypur town in Samba district.
