Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Congress over Sam Pitroda’s remarks on Ant-Sikh riots of 1984.
Rohtak, May 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Congress over Sam Pitroda’s remarks on Ant-Sikh riots of 1984. Addressing an election rally in Haryana’s Rohtak, PM Modi said that three words ‘Hua so Hua’ by Congress leader Pitroda summed up grand old party’s arrogance. “Sikhs were targeted in Haryana, Himachal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and other states. It was led by the Congress, but today the Congress is saying, "It happened,” said PM Modi. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also staged a protest outside Congress President Rahul Gandhi's residence against Pitroda's remarks on 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Meanwhile, the Indian Overseas Congress chief on Friday also hit out at the BJP for "twisting his words and distorting facts" to "hide their failures", reported ANI. He also reaffirmed that he had acknowledged the pain of Sikhs during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The clarification came a day after Pitroda, when asked about BJP's claim that instructions to "kill" in 1984 had come from late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, said, "It (riots) happened in 1984, so what?"
On Thursday, the BJP, citing the Nanavati Commission report, had said "instructions to kill" came directly from then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's office. In response to BJP’s allegation, Pitroda, had said, "I don't think so, this is also another lie, and what about 1984? You speak about what you have done in five years.”
