Tonk, February 24: With more than a week passed by and no concrete steps taken from Pakistan to assure India that they are doing their part to act against terrorism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reminded his Pakistani counterpart to act like a ‘Pathan’ on Saturday. PM Modi not only threw a challenge to Imran Khan to act honourably by bringing to justice those responsible for the Pulwama terror attack, but recalled Khan’s promise to act against terror.

Addressing a gathering in Rajasthan’s Tonk, Narendra Modi recalled the briefs of the phone call made by him to Khan after the latter became the Prime Minister of ‘Naya’ Pakistan. He said, as NDTV reports, “I told him there have been plenty of fights between India and Pakistan. Pakistan got nothing. Every time, we won. I told him let us fight against poverty and illiteracy. He told me, 'Modi ji, I am the son of a Pathan. I speak true and I do true'. Today, the time has come for him to stand true to his words. I will see whether he stands true to his words or not.” Post-UNSC Statement on Kashmir, US President Donald Trump Calls Situation ‘Very Very Bad And Dangerous’ Between India and Pakistan.

It is to be known that Pathan – an ethnic group with roots in Iran – are known for their deep sense of honour and self-respect. Khan in his televised speech had asked for ‘authenticated’ proofs and assured India that Pakistan would take strict measures against the perpetrators.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump too had condemned the dastardly terror attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama district Jammu and Kashmir on February 14, which killed 40 personnel. He had called the situation between India and Pakistan ‘very very bad and dangerous’. Even the United Nations Security Council issued a statement for the first time and condemned the attack.

Terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad had released a video of the terrorist claiming responsibility of the strike. According to the information, the mastermind of the terror strike in Pulwama operates from its Pakistani headquarters.
