Pirpainti (SC) Vidhan Sabha Seat Result in Bihar Assembly Elections 2020: BJP's Lalan Kumar Wins, Elected as MLA

Pirpainti Vidhan Sabha seat lies in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar. The Pipainti constituency, reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates, falls under the Bhagalpur Lok Sabha seat. The seat was dominated by the RJD. However, BJP's Lalan Kumar won the seat in Bihar Assembly Elections 2020. Voting for Pirpainti election took place in the second phase of Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 on November 3. Bihar election results were declared on November 10.

Voting for the Bihar Vidhan Sabha polls 2020 took place in three phases on October 28, November 3 and 7. The counting of votes for all phases took place on November 10. A total of 94 constituencies, including Pipainti, went to polls in the second phase on November 3.

Ram Vilash Paswan of the RJD had won the 2015 Bihar polls on the Pirpainti constituency, defeating Lalan Kumar of the BJP. The candidates on the Pirpainti seat for 2020 Bihar polls included RJD's sitting MLA Paswan, Lalan Kumar of the BJP and Bishnudev Kumar Paswan of the NCP among others.

Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 were the first major polls in the country amid the COVID-19 outbreak. It is because of the pandemic that the polls had been brought down to three phases while voting timing was increased by an hour. The JDU-BJP combine won the election with 125 seats.
