Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala CM, Drops Plan to Attend PM Narendra Modi's Swearing-In Ceremony

With WB Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee saying that she won't attend PM Narendra Modi's swearing ceremony on May 30, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan too confirmed that he won't attend the ceremony too.

Thiruvananthapuram, May 29: With West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee saying that she won't attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing ceremony on May 30, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan too confirmed that he won't attend the ceremony.

Informing about Vijayan's decision, the Kerak CM's CMO said, "chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will not attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's oath-taking ceremony on May 30th." Though the reason is still to be known, it is expected that similar reason like allegations of political killings in Kerala might have miffed state chief minister. Earlier, Mamata Banerjee said she won't attend the event in protest over media reports of alleged political violence in the state. She announced her decision after BJP said kins of its activists who were allegedly killed in political violence will attend the event as "special guest". It is to be known that Mamata Banerjee had not attended Modi's swearing-in in 2014 too.

Among the special guests at the event will be leaders from BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries and a host of celebrities and politicians.
