New Delhi, April 21: The silence period for the third phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 began on Sunday at 5 pm with the campaigning time ended for all the political parties and individuals contesting in the polls. 116 constituencies, spread over 13 states and 2 Union Territories, will go to polls on Tuesday.

According to the EC notification, polls will be conducted for all 26 constituencies in Gujarat, 20 in Kerala, 14 each in Maharashtra and Karnataka, 10 in Uttar Pradesh, seven in Chhattisgarh, six in Odisha, five each in Bihar and West Bengal, four in Assam, two in Goa, one each in Jammu and Kashmir, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and Tripura. Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Phase III: List of States And Constituencies Voting On April 23. 

On the last day of the campaigning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed two rallies at Chittorgarh and Barmer in Rajasthan, while Congress president Rahul Gandhi addressed a public meeting at Beneswar Dham in Banswara of Rajasthan. In his rally, PM Modi appealed people to vote for Samrudhdh Bharat and also Sashakta Bharat and criticised Congress party for its misrule and compromising national security.

On the other hand, Gandhi attacked PM Modi for compromising with the future of the youth and farmers. He promised to provide employment to the youth through their Nyay scheme, if Congress comes to power. Gandhi had been vocal about demonetisation, GST and Rafale deal in his previous speeches.

Among the key candidates contesting this phase include - Shashi Tharoor, Rahul Gandhi, Anto Anthony, Tushar Vellapally, Raju Shetti, Supriya Sule, Abhijit Mukherjee, Mohan Joshi and others. The polls would be conducted from 7 am to 6 pm, barring few sensitive constituencies.

Citing reports of poll violence in West Bengal and Tripura in the previous phases of election, adequate security has been deployed to prevent any untoward incident. CCTV footages of polling booth would be recorded and special observers have been ordered to make sure the polling in these constituencies become peaceful.
