Congress candidate Vishwajeet Kadam Wins Unopposed from Palus Kadegaon assembly seat in by-poll election.
Mumbai, May 31: The by-poll election results will be announced today for polling held in ten assembly seats---in Maharashtra (Palus Kadegaon constituency), Uttar Pradesh (Noorpur), Bihar (Jokihat), Jharkhand (Gomia and Silli), Kerala (Chengannur), Meghalaya (Ampati), Punjab (Shahkot), Uttarakhand (Tharali) and West Bengal (Maheshtala) and two Lok Sabha seats of Maharashtra's (Bhandara-Gondiya, Palghar) and Nagaland. The Maharashtra assembly seat by-poll election results for Palus-Kadegaon is believed to be declared on the day itself when BJP opted out of the election race, paving the way for the Congress candidate Vishwajeet Kadam, whose victory is now proved to be unopposed.
Vishwajeet Kadam, son of late veteran Congressmen Patangrao Kadam, remained only to be the strong contender after BJP backed out, and Shiv Sena party already extended its support to him by not fielding any candidate from their party earlier. After the sad demise of sitting MLA and former minister Patangrao Kadam, by-poll was necessitated. Kadam passed away after a prolonged illness in March. After that, his son Vishwajeet Kadam has been fielded by the Congress party for the by-election polls. Earlier Vishwajeet had also contested the Pune Lok Sabha seat in 2014 but remained unsuccessful.
Furthermore, the winner of this assembly seat will hold the office for just one year, as the tenure of the assembly seat will come to an end in October 2019.
