New Delhi, July 23: Delhi's Patiala House Court has extended its interim protection granted to P Chidambaram till August 7. Previously, the Delhi High Court on May 31, had granted interim protection from arrest to senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram in the INX Media case till July 3. Justice A.K. Pathak had directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) not to take any coercive action against Chidambaram till July 3, the next date of hearing.
The High Court on July 3, then extended the interim protection to the former Finance Minister till August 1. On July 19, the CBI had filed fresh chargesheet in the case. And now the protection has been extended by a week to August 7. Check the ANI tweet below:

The Delhi High Court also said that it will hear P Chidambaram's anticipatory bail plea tomorrow, mentioned news agency ANI in its tweet:

In the INX Media case, the CBI had registered an FIR on May 15, 2017, against alleged irregularities in the FIPB clearance to INX Media for receiving overseas funds to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 when P Chidambaram was finance minister in the UPA I government.
Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram was also arrested in the matter on February 28 for allegedly receiving funds to the tune of Rs 10 lakh in the case. He was granted bail on March 23. Only today, the Supreme Court on Monday permitted Karti Chidambaram, to travel to three nations abroad including United States of America (USA), France and UK for business purpose.
