New Delhi, August 21: Former Union Finance Minister minister P Chidambaram was arrested after he was taken into the custody by the CBI in INX media case on Wednesday evening. In a dramatic turn of events, officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) entered Chidambaram's residence by jumping from the wall amid high chaos. Chidambaram was first taken into custody from his Jor Bagh residence. Chidambaram's arrest comes after more than 30 hours of political intrigue. The Beginning
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram in the INX media scam case.
The court in its observation said that Chidambaram is a “classic case of money laundering” and that his custody was essential for the CBI to take the case against him to a conclusion. Justice Sunil Gaur rejected Chidambaram's bail plea.
A team of officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reached the Jor Bagh residence of former Union Minister P Chidambaram at 6.30 pm on Tuesday. The CBI issued a showcause notice against Chidambaram to appear before the agency "within two hours." However, Chidamabaram remained "untraceable" and the Congress party alleged that the action against him was a case of "political vendetta."

On Thursday, senior Congress leaders and Chidambaram's council including Kabil Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Ashwini Kumar, waited before the Supreme Court to get the matter listed before the bench. However, the top court decided to hear the matter on Friday even as Chidambaram remained missing.
However, the former Union Minister made an "appearance" at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi. During his media interaction, Chidambaram denied all the allegations levelled against him and his family members in the INX media case. The senior Congress leader said, “In INX Media case, I've not been accused of any offence nor any one else including any member of my family. There is no charge sheet filed by either ED or CBI before a competent court.”
