P Chidambaram Allowed Home-Cooked Food Once a Day While in Judicial Custody in INX Media Case

New Delhi, October 3: With the health condition of former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram deteriorating with time, Delhi House Court allowed home-cooked food for Congress leader for one time in a day. Earlier in the day, the judicial custody of former Union Minister has been extended till October 17 in INX Media Case.

Citing the declining health of Chidambaram, the Delhi sessions court gave relief and stated that the former minister can have home-cooked food for once in a day during the judicial custody. The decision was announced by the court while it extended the judicial custody of former Union Minister on Thursday. Lodged in Tihar Jail, Chidambaram moved to Supreme Court challenging the recent order of the Delhi High Court that dismissed his bail plea in the INX Media case. Earlier, his petition was quashed by the Delhi High Court which stated that he might influence witnesses in the case. Following this, Chidambaram's counsel, Kapil Sibal, moved a Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the apex court on Thursday, seeking urgent hearing into it. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had arrested Chidambaram on August 21 following which he was sent to judicial custody, which is slated to end today. It is to be known that Chidambaram is facing probe for alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance given to INX Media to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 when he was the Union finance minister.
