Hyderabad, September 4: The Telangana state cabinet met on Sunday and cleared the proposal to allocate 6,500 sq yards of prime land at Bandlaguda near Chandrayangutta in Telangana to the Owaisi Hospital and Research Centre which is owned by the leader of AIMIM in the assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi, the younger brother of Asaduddin Owaisi.

According to a report in the Times of India, the value of the land is worth Rs 40 crore and will be given to the Owaisi hospital either on lease or concessional rate.

The report also mentions that the Telangana state government was involved in a long legal tussle for the land and had even cancelled the No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the then Hyderabad district administration and revenue department. The possession of the land was later taken by the Telangana state government.

The TOI report also cited sources saying that the AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had met the Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) in relation to the land. According to the report, Chief Minister Rao was requested by Asaduddin Owaisi to allocate the land so that the Owaisi Hospital could be expanded.

It was following the request by Asaduddin Owaisi that KCR instructed officials to put the proposal related to the land at the Sunday's cabinet meeting. Reports say that the state cabinet has passed the proposal to give the land on a lease of 99 years or at concessional price considering the service provided by the hospital to the poor at nominal price.
