Bhubaneswar, May 29: Hours after Naveen Patnaik took oath as the chief minister of Odisha for the fifth consecutive time, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government released the list of newly appointed Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State (Independent charge) and a Minister of State along with their portfolios on Wednesday. Out of the 11 Cabinet and nine state rank ministers, ten new legislators have been included this time in the council of ministers. Six are among the legislators who retained their ministerial berths. Patnaik has kept Home, General Administration and Public Grievance with himself. Finance and Excise Ministry is given to Niranjan Pujari and Forest, Environment and Parliamentary Affairs to Bikram Kesari Arukha. Pratap Jena will be handling Panchayati Raj Ministry along with Drinking Water, Law and Housing Ministry. Agriculture, Fisheries and Farmers’ Empowerment Ministry is handed over to Arun Kumar Sahoo. Earlier in the day, Patnaik was sworn in as the Odisha Chief Minister for a fifth consecutive term Governor Ganeshi Lal will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Patnaik and his 20-member council of ministers. The new ministry is a mix of experienced and newly-elected legislators. In the Assembly elections, the BJD bagged 112 seats out of 147.
