The counting of votes was scheduled to begin at 8 am. The campaign trail witnessed a high-voltage electoral battle between the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Left Front and a slew of regional political outfits.
Tripura, which first went into polls on February 18, witnessed a voter turnout of over 89 per cent. The state remains under the lens of pollsters as the BJP has appeared closer than any other party in the past 25 years to dethrone the incumbent CPI(M).
