Uluberia Lok Sabha Constituency West Bengal Election Results 2018 Live News Updates at 12.15 pm:  The Uluberia constituency is one of the Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal with a Muslim population of nearly 40 percent. As per trends, TMC is leading in Uluberia with its candidate Late Sultan Ahmed’s widow Sajda.

Kolkata, Feb 1: Bypoll results for West Bengal's Noapara assembly seat and Uluberia Lok Sabha constituency will be declared today. The Election Commission of India was scheduled to begin the counting of votes at 8:00 am.  The polling in both the constituencies was conducted on January 29. The bye-elections to the two constituencies were necessitated following the death of incumbent lawmakers -- Noapara MLA Madhusudan Ghosh and Uluberia MP Sultan Ahmed. The former, a Congress veteran, passed away at the age of 79 on August 18 last year , following a prolonged illness. Whereas, Ahmed, a senior TMC leader, died on September 4 after suffering a cardiac arrest.

From Uluberia, a Muslim-dominated parliamentary seat with 15,77,396 voters, the TMC has fielded deceased Ahmed's wife Sajda, the CPM-led Left Front had given the ticket to Sabiruddin Molla and the Congress had nominated SK Mudassar Hossain Warsi. Meanwhile, the BJP candidate from the seat is its district unit chief Anupam Malik.

From Noapara assembly seat, the Congress nominee is Goutam Bose,  the TMC has fielded Sunil Singh, the CPM had given the ticket to Gargi Chatterjee and BJP had named Sandip Banerjee as its contestant in the bypolls.
