No-Confidence Motion Debate in Lower House: BJP Gets 3 Hours, 33 Minutes to Speak in Lok Sabha, Congress 38 Mins; Check The Time Allotted to All Parties

New Delhi, July 19: Lok Sabha is scheduled to take up the debate on the Opposition's no-confidence motion on Friday. In the 7-hour discussion , the ruling BJP gets the lion's share as it's lawmakers would be presenting the party's case for 3 hours, 33 minutes.

Congress, the prime Opposition, has been allotted 38 minutes, whereas, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which moved the no-trust vote, will be speaking for 13 minutes. The time allocation is based upon the parliamentary strengths of the parties. Below is the party-wise break-up of time allotted for discussion of the no-confidence motion.

- Congress: 38 minutes

- AIADMK: 29 minutes

- TMC: 27 minutes

- BJD: 15 minutes

- Shiv Sena: 14 minutes

- TDP: 13 minutes

- TRS: 9 minutes

- CPI(M): 7 minutes

- Samajwadi Party: 6 minutes

- NCP: 6 minutes

- LJSP: 5 minutes

- SAD: 4 minutes

- RLSP: 4 minutes

- Apna Dal: 4 minutes

- Others: 26 minutes

Ahead of the no-trust vote, the ruling BJP was confident of defeating the motion. With 273 MPs, the party itself is five notch above the halfway-mark - 268 - as the effective strength of the House has been reduced to 535 lawmakers.

"With support from out NDA allies, the number goes upto 314," said Union Parliament Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar. He said the government is also expecting support from some non-NDA parties. "Not all among the Opposition is backing this no-purpose no-confidence motion," he added.

While the AIADMK has confirmed its support to the government, the TRS and BJD are likely to either abstain or vote in favour of the NDA.
