During his address, he also targeted the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led Mahagathbandhan. The Bihar CM alleged that the sole aim of RJD leaders is to loot people of Bihar. He further added that Mahagathbandhan is attempting to come to power by dividing society on the basis of caste and community.

Jhanjharpur is among the five seats in Bihar which would be contested in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019. The seat is located in northern Bihar, close to the Nepal borders on the north, adjacent to Madhubani on the west and Supaul to the east.

In 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the seat will witness a triangular contest among Janata Dal-United (JDU) candidate Ram Preet Mandal, Gulab Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Union Minister Devendra Prasad Singh who is contesting as an independent. In the last general elections in 2014, the Jhanjharpur seat was won Birendra Kumar Choudhary of the BJP. He had succeeded in defeating the then incumbent MP, Mangani Lal Mandal, of the RJD.
