Mumbai, October 3: Former Indian National Congress (INC) MLA and son of ex-Chief Minister Narayan Rane on Thursday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha Elections on October 21. This development comes a day after Narayan Rane informed the media that his son would contest from Kankavli seat on a BJP ticket. Nitesh Rane, Who Led 'Mud' Attack on Government Official, Arrested.
In 2014 Assembly polls, Nitesh triumphed from Sindhudurg district's Kankavli seat on a Congress ticket. He defeated then BJP MLA Pramod Jathar. "Nitesh's name will figure in the second list and he will contest from Kankavli," his father had said on Gandhi Jayanti 2019.

The ruling saffron party on Tuesday announced its first list of candidates for October 21 polls. The 125-candidates list included the names of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and State BJP president Chandrakant Patel.
Nitesh Rane had made headlines in July when he along with his supporters threw a bucket of mud on an engineer at a bridge in Kankavali near Mumbai-Goa highway. They also tied him to the bridge. Junior Rane and his supporters were later arrested by police.
