Results for the Nilgiris Lok Sabha Constituency in Tamil Nadu has been declared by the Election Commission of India (ECI). A Raja of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate has won this seat. The counting of votes for the Nilgiris Lok Sabha Constituency began at 8 AM on Thursday, May 23. This is one of the 39 Parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu which went to poll on April 18. The constituency was formed in the year 1952 and since 2009, this constituency is reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes.

The Nilgiris constituency comprises of six Vidhan Sabha segments and the constituency has over 1,000,000 voters. For the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has fielded M Thiagarajan as its candidate from the reserved constituency of Nilgiris while the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has given its ticket to A Raja. The Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) has given its ticket to Rajendran while the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) has fielded its candidate M. Voting in all the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu will be held on April 18. The last day of filing nomination for the polls in Tamil Nadu in March 26 while the last day of withdrawal of candidature is March 29. The counting of votes will be held on May 23.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) candidate Gopalakrishnan had won from this seat by defeating A Raja of the DMK. Gopalakrishnan had won the Nilgiris seat by 463,700 votes.
