Mumbai, May 14: The first four phases of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 have concluded in Maharashtra. Polling on 35 out of Maharashtra's 48 Lok Sabha seats is done. The remaining 13 seats will go to polls in the fifth phase on May 20. Following the voting in past four phases, reports emerged that voters were confused between the two NCP (Nationalist Congress Party of Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar's NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar). Following the split of the NCP, the Election Commission held that the NCP of Ajit Pawar faction is the "real" NCP or Nationalist Congress Party. Sharad Pawar's group was allotted the title "Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar" as its party name. While holding Ajit Pawar's NCP as the "real" NCP, the EC also gave the "clock" election symbol to the faction. Subsequently, the NCP faction of Sharad Pawar was allotted the "trumpet" symbol. Who Is Contesting Under "Clock" and "Trumpet" Symbols?
Candidates of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, which is now an ally of the BJP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, are contesting under the "clock" symbol. Similarly, the nominees of Sharad Pawar's NCP, which is a part of INDIA bloc, are contesting under the "trumpet" symbol. Ajit Pawar-led NCP is contesting four seats in Maharashtra - Baramati, Raigarh, Shirur and Parbhani. The NCP (SP), which is contesting 10 seats within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, nominated its candidates in Satara, Raver, Baramati, Beed, Bhiwandi, Wardha, Dindori, Shirur, Ahmednagar and Madha.
