Indore, May 11: Undeterred after being slapped with a notice by the Election Commission for his contentious remarks against the Prime Minister, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu furthered his tirade against Narendra Modi. While addressing a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, Sidhu called the PM a liar, divider and a "business manager" of top industrialists.
Picking up from the "divider-in-chief" title used by the Time Magazine for its cover story on Modi, Sidhu said the Indian PM is not only "dividing the country" on communal lines, but also "lying and fooling" the masses. PM Narendra Modi Called 'India's Divider-in-Chief' by Time Magazine On Cover.
"I call him Liar-in-Chief, Divider-in-Chief and Business Manager of Ambani and Adani," Sidhu said. In another controversial remark, he used a "new bride" analogy to accuse the Prime Minister of indulging only in theatrics over the last 5 years. The statements were reportedly shortly after media played a section of his speech in which he described the BJP as "kaale angrez". "Gandhi fought against the British and drove them away. Now you have to drive these kaale angrez (black Britishers) away," he said, apparently referring to the Centre-ruling BJP.
The BJP has accused Sidhu of resorting to racism, and has demanded the Election Commission to take stringent action against him.
Sidhu, a Cabinet Minister in Punjab, is already under the EC radar. He was issued a notice for calling PM Modi a "middleman" of industrialist Anil Ambani.
