New Delhi, May 29: The Chief Minister-designates of Odisha and Arunachal Pradesh will take oath to office today. Naveen Patnaik, the BJD supremo, would be sworn-in as the CM in Odisha, whereas, BJP leader Pema Khandu would be sworn-in in Arunachal Pradesh. The respective council of ministers would also be administered the oath to office.

At the swearing-in of Patnaik, nearly 7,000 people, including heads of top industries in Odisha, are expected to attend. Governor Ganeshi Lal will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Patnaik and his 20-member council of ministers. Patnaik’s new ministry is a mix of experienced and newly-elected legislatures.

Party sources said senior legislator and former minister Surya Narayan Patro is likely to be named as the Speaker of the 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly.

Meanwhile, Khandu's swearing-in ceremony has been organized at the Dorjee Khandu state convention hall in Itanagar. Along with Khandu, his council of ministers will also take the oath of office and secrecy. Governor BD Mishra will administer the oath-taking ceremony.

Both Khandu and Patnaik defied incumbency to win the state elections. Khandu, who will be sworn-in as the CM for second time, won 41 out of the 60 assembly seats. Patnaik, who is taking oath as CM for the fifth time, succeeded in winning 112 out of the 147 constituencies.
