Hyderabad, May 19: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Sunday wrote to the Election Commission of India (ECI) alleging violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his visits to the holy shrines in hill state-Uttarakhand. In its letter, the TDP said the Prime Minister has gone to Badrinath and Kedarnath on an official visit and all the private activities done by him are being displayed and continuously telecasted, which is a clear violation of the MCC. PM Narendra Modi Meditates at Holy Cave Near Kedarnath Shrine, See Pictures.

Earlier on Sunday, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) had written to the Election Commission alleging the visit of Prime Minister to the Himalayan shrine of Kedarnath is a violation of the model code of conduct. Trinamool Congress spokesperson Derek O’Brien in the letter to EC said that even though the Election campaign for the last phase of polling for 2019 Lok Sabha is over on May 17 at 6 pm, Modi’s Kedarnath Yatra is being covered and widely televised.

The TMC leader said all these moves were well calculated with the “ill intention to influence the voters” on the polling day. Derek further sought immediate action to "stop telecast of such surreptitious and unfair campaign". Narendra Modi Offers Prayers at Kedarnath Shrine in Uttarakhand.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at the Kedranath temple and meditated at a cave called 'Dhyan Kutia'. After his Kedarnath visit, the Prime Minister offered prayers at the Badrinath temple in Chamoli district on Sunday. The Prime Minister later thanked the Election Commission for permitting him to visit the Himalayan shrine and take a break from the gruelling election campaign.
