New Delhi, May 29: President Ram Nath Kovind will administer the oath to office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with his Union Cabinet, today. A mega-event has been organised in the national capital for Modi's oath-taking ceremony. The ceremony, which would feature the attendance of nearly 6,500 esteemed guests, is in accordance with the mandate accorded to him, making Modi the first incumbent PM after Indira Gandhi to be re-elected with a single-party majority for consecutive terms.

Among those in attendance for PM's swearing-in event tomorrow include heads of states of the BIMSTEC nations. Member nations of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation include  Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan, apart from India.

Among premiers who have confirmed their attendance at the swearing-in ceremony include  Bhutan PM Lotay Tshering, Thailand's Prayut Chan-o-cha, Sri Lanka's Ranil Wickremesinghe, Nepal's KP Sharma Oli and Myanmar's Aung San Suu Kyi.

Apart from the BIMSTEC nations, Kyrgyz Republic President Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth are also likely to attend the swearing-in event.

Besides foreign dignitaries, domestic leaders cutting across the political spectrum have been invited. Chief Ministers of the 16-BJP ruled states would be attending the event. From the Opposition camp, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, Andhra Pradesh's Jaganmohan Reddy, Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy and Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal would be attending. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and her Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan had turned down the invite.
