Narendra Modi Should Chant 'Anil Ambani Ki Jai' Instead of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai', Says Rahul Gandhi; PM Hits Back
Rahul Gandhi said Modi shouts 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' in every rally but it sounds "hollow" coming from him.
Jaipur, December 4: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday fired a fresh salvo at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that he works only for crony capitalists. Addressing an election rally in poll-bound Rajasthan, Rahul Gandhi said PM Modi should hail Anil Ambani, Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi instead of saying 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' (Hail mother India) because it sounds "hollow" coming from him.
"Narendra Modi raise slogan 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' in all his speeches. Bharat Mata includes all of us including farmers, women, labourers and people of every section of the society. But PM Modi only works for Anil Ambani. He should chant slogans such as Anil Ambani Ki Jai, Nirav Modi Ki Jai, Mehul Choksi Ki Jai and Narendra Modi Ki Jai," Gandhi said at Jhunjhunu. Hitting back at Gandhi, PM Modi said the Congress should be ashamed for 'fatwa' against raising 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' slogan. Reiterating his 'Naamdaar' (dynast) jibe, PM Modi said: "Congress's 'Naamdaar' has come up with a fatwa that I should not begin rallies with 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. How can they deny this? They must be ashamed of even saying such a thing. This shows their disrespect for our motherland."
"Who are they (Congress) to stop the youth of this country from hailing Bharat Mata? This is a slogan Jawans raise while conducting surgical strikes (across LoC)," Modi said. He claimed that some senior Congress leaders stop people from raising such slogans in their meetings and instead ask people to say ‘Sonia Gandhi ki Jai'. Earlier today, digging out an old leaf from the statements made by late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Modi also accused the Gandhi dynasty of having little knowledge about farmers’ issues. Addressing a public rally in Hanumangarh, he said, “If the ‘Naamdaar’ is told that green chillies pay less to farmers than red chilli, he will give a speech saying that farmers must not cultivate green chilli but produce crops of red chilli. The person, who cannot differentiate between green chilli and red chilli, will now preach us about farmers!”
Rajasthan is due to vote for a new assembly on December 7. Counting of votes will take place on December 11.
