Narendra Modi Receives Grand Welcome Upon Reaching Home, Here Are Highlights of PM's US Tour
Prime Minister Modi returned to India on Saturday after a seven-day visit to the United States. PM Modi arrived at the Palam airport in New Delhi in the evening. The PM had embarked on the visit on September 21. Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari oversaw all the arrangements outside the airport. Cultural programmes have also been arranged to welcome PM Modi.
New Delhi, September 28: Prime Minister Modi returned to India on Saturday after a seven-day visit to the United States. PM Modi arrived at the Palam airport in New Delhi in the evening. The PM had embarked on the visit on September 21. Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister received a grand welcome by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members, who gathered outside the Palam Airport. Cultural programmes have also been arranged to welcome PM Modi. After reaching New Delhi, the PM addressed the BJP workers waiting outside the airport. During his speech, he remembered the heroes of the Indian Army who conducted surgical strikes on Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror launchpads across the Line of Control (LoC) three years back. He also mentioned about his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and the mega event 'Howdy, Modi!' in Houston.
PM Modi embarked on the seven-day visit last Saturday. On September 22, PM Modi along with United States President Donald Trump addressed the largest-ever congregation of Indian-Americans at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Over 50,000 people addressed the gathering. The event was aimed at strengthening the Indo-US ties. During the event, PM Modi raised a terrorism issue.
On September 23, PM Modi attended “climate emergency" summit aimed at reinvigorating the faltering Paris agreement. In the Summit, The Prime Minister highlighted India’s commitment to boost renewable energy and save the environment. At the UN Climate Action Summit in New York, PM Modi said, “The time for talking is over. The world needs to act now.” He further added, “"We must accept that if we have to overcome such serious challenge, then what we are doing today is not enough. What we need is global behavioural change.”
Two days later, on September 23, the Prime Minister delivered a keynote address at Bloomberg Global Business Forum in New York. He also invited the foreign business community to invest in India. Listing out reasons why businessmen should invest in India, PM Narendra Modi said that his government was working towards improving the business environment in the country.
On Friday, PM Modi, addressed the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. During his address PM Modi raised the issue of terrorism. He asserted that India is a peace-loving country. During his address, the Prime Minister added that India has given the world Buddh – founder of Buddhism and not Yudh (War) to underline country’s no war policy. He also mentioned about the contribution of the Indian Armed forces in the United Nations peacekeeping forces.
During his visit, the Indian Prime Minister also received the 'Global Goalkeeper Award' for "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in New York. After receiving the award, “This honour is not mine but of the crores of Indians who not only fulfilled the Swachh Bharat dream but also made it a part of their daily lives." On the sidelines of various global events, PM Modi also held bilateral meetings with the state heads of countries including Bangladesh.
