Lucknow, May 23: The counting of the votes for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 is underway and the fate of many political leaders in the electorally crucial state of Uttar Pradesh is at stake. Among the leading trends and names that have emerged from the state of Uttar Pradesh so far, BJP candidate and Union Minister Smriti Irani is leading against Congress President Rahul Gandhi in Congress party's bastion of Amethi.
UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is leading from her constituency, the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat, that has traditionally being a Congress stronghold.
Sakshi Maharaj of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won from the Unnao Lok Sabha seat by a margin of more than three lakhs votes. He was up against Pooja Pal of the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party (SP-BSP) alliance who proved to be no match for Sakshi Maharaj.
Maneka Gandhi of the BJP is currently leading from the Sultanpur seat in Uttar Pradesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is leading from the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency by a margin of more than 3 lakh votes.
Manoj Sinha of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), fighting from the Ghazipur Lok Sabha constituency, is trailing behind Afzal Ansari on the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
UPCC President Raj Babbar was trailing behind BJP's Raj Kumar Chahar in Fatehpur Sikri. Other Congress stalwarts including Salman Khurshid in Farrukhabad and Jitin Prasad in Dhauhara were also trailing at third and second positions respectively.
Actor turned politician Ravi Kishen is also leading from the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha constituency against Ram Bhuwal Nishad of the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party.
BJP state President Mahendra Nath Pandey is reportedly trailing behind Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Sanjay Chauhan. BJP candidate from Pilibhit, Varun Gandhi, and Hema Malini from Mathura were leading in their constituencies.
