New Delhi, May 30: Narendra Modi on Thursday was sworn-in as the Prime Minister of the country for the second consecutive time in a glittering ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhawan. Along with PM Modi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance leaders took oath as Union Ministers. The ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan. A total of 24 cabinet ministers took oath along with PM Modi. Senior Ministers who took oath as cabinet ministers include Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Rajnath Singh, Sadanand Gowda, Naresh Pokhriyal, Nitin Gadkari, Ravi Shankar Prasad, S Jayashanker, Smriti Irani, Piyush Goyal, Arvind Sawant and Prakash Javadekar. Out of 24 cabinet ministers, six including Shah, Sawant and Jayashanker have been inducted into the cabinet for the first time. Apart from cabinet ministers, 34 ministers of state (MoS)including nine MoS with independent charge took oath. Thirty-four MoS' who took oath today include Santosh Singh Gangwal, Anurag Thakur, General VK Singh, Babul Supriyo, Kiren Rijiju, Hardeep Singh Puri and G Kishan Reddy. Out of these 34, 13 were inducted into the council of ministers for the first time.

Shah is likely to get charge of the Finance Ministry. Though Nirmala Sitharam did not contest Lok Sabha elections, but has been given birth in the cabinet. Goyal is likely to get Railways Ministry, Javadekar is expected to get HRD Ministry, while Naqvi may get charge of Minority Affairs. Irani is also expected to get a key portfolio in the Modi government 2.0.
Senior Congress leaders including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad were also present. Amongst the international dignitaries representatives of BIMSTEC nations also attended the swearing-in ceremony.
