Narendra Modi, Amit Shah Reprimand Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, Deputy CM Nitin Patel Over Attacks on Migrant Workers in State

Gandhinagar, October 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah lashed out at Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy CM Nitin Patel over the recent violence in the state. According to a report published in The Times of India, the Gujarat government led-by Rupani was criticised for the poor handling of the situation arose due to attacks on the migrant workers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

As the assembly elections in five states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram are drawing closer, the top party brass is worried about the attacks as it may hamper their poll strategy. Yesterday, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath spoke to  CM Rupani over the phone about the attacks on the north Indian migrant workers.

According to a report of News 18, about 40,000 have fled the state. Home Minister of the state Pradeepsinh Jadeja on Monday appealed to the people not to be frightened as the state government was taking actions against the culprits. Migrant workers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh were attacked after a 14-month-old girl in Sabarkantha was allegedly raped by a Bihari Migrant.

The incident took place on September 28 in a village near Himmatnagar town of Sabarkantha district, around 100 km from Ahmedabad. The victim belongs to the Thakor community. The BJP is targeting Congress MLA Alpesh Takor for instigating violence.
