New Delhi, December 1: Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury stoked a row on Sunday while airing his dissent towards the Centre-proposed nationwide National Register of Citizens (NRC) drive. The lawmaker from West Bengal ended up calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as "ghuspethiya intruders", stating that they belong to Gujarat but have settled in Delhi. Chowdhury said that the nation belongs to all everyone and none can claim their exclusive ownership on India. He reiterated that his party would strongly be protesting against the NRC, adding that there are fears that the citizenship drive may render people stateless. 'NRC Not Matter of Concern, PM Modi Has Assured Me', Says Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina.
"India is for everyone. Is India anyone's (exclusive) property? Everyone has equal rights. Amit Shah and Narendra Modi themselves are intruders. Their home is in Gujarat but they have come to Delhi," the Berhampore MP said.
