Varanasi, September 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi turns 68 today. As wishes poured in for the Prime Minister on Monday, Modi is headed to his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi to spend time with children and announce a slew of welfare projects. PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various developmental projects worth Rs 500 crore during his visit to Varanasi on September 17 and 18. He will celebrate his birthday with children of a primary school aided by a non-profit organisation called, "Room to Read" in Narur village. Later, he will interact with students of Kashi Vidyapeeth at the DLW campus.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is observing the Prime Minister's birthday, as ‘Sewa Diwas’ across the nation. Party leaders organise various welfare programmes like cleanliness drives and blood donation camps across India.

The Prime Minister is also expected to lay the foundation stone for a cancer hospital, which is estimated to cost Rs. 600 crores. He is also likely to visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and start corridor construction of the temple.

According to a report by PTI, among the projects to be inaugurated by Modi are Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) for Puraani Kashi and an Atal Incubation Centre at BHU. Among the projects for which the foundation stones will be laid is the Regional Ophthalmology Centre at BHU.
