Counting of votes for 230 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh is currently underway. In Ashta, Indian National Congress candidate Gopal Singh Engineer against BJP candidate Raghunath Singh Malviya. In the last polls in the state, Ranjeet Gunwan of the BJP had won the seat.

Bhopal, December 10: The counting of votes for assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh is currently underway. Polling in the state was held on November 28 and results for all the 230-member assembly seats will be out by Tuesday evening. We, at LatestLy, bring you updates on the results for six MP Vidhan Sabha constituencies-Narela, Bhopal Dakshin Paschim, Bhopal Madhya, Govindpura, Huzur, Budhni, Ashta. 

In Narela, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has pitted Vishwas Sarang against Congress candidate Arif Aqueel. In the last elections, Vishwas Sarang of the BJP had defeated Congress' Sunil Sood and had won the seat with 98472 votes. In Bhopal Dakshin-Paschim, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Umashankar Gupta against Congress candidate P.C. Sharma. In 2013 polls, Gupta had won the seat by defeating Congress candidate Sanjeev Saxena with 71167 votes.

In Bhopal Madhya, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Surendra Nath Singh against Congress candidate Arif Masood. In 2013, BJP's Surendra Nath Singh had defeated Congress candidate Masood with 70696 votes.

In Govindpura, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded  Krishna Gour while the Congress has pitted Girish Sharma. In 2013, Babulal Gaur of the BJP had won with 116586 votes.

In Huzur, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has this time fielded Rameshwar Sharma against Congress candidate Naresh Gyanchandani. In the 2013 elections, Rameshwar Sharma of the BJP had won the Huzur seat with 108994 votes.

In Budhni, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan is contesting against Congress candidate Arun Yadav. In the 2013 polls, Shivraj Singh Chouhan had defeated Congress candidate Dr. Mahendra Singh Chauhan with 128730 votes.

In Ashta (SC), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has this time fielded Raghunath Malviya against Congress candidate Engr. Gopal Singh. In the 2013 polls, Ranjeet Singh Gunwan of the BJP had defeated Singh with 84252 votes.

In Madhya Pradesh, at least 1,145 Electronic Voting Machines were replaced following complaints of technical snags, reports PTI quoting election officials. Chief Electoral Officer VL Kantha Rao says 2,126 voter verifiable paper audit trail machines were replaced during the polls, reports ANI.

Polling began on Wednesday morning to elect a 230-member assembly in Madhya Pradesh, where the ruling BJP and opposition Congress are fighting for supremacy.

Polling is being held between 8 am and 5 pm for 227 seats. In three assembly segments – Lanji, Paraswada and Baihar – in the Naxal-affected Balaghat district, the voting time is between 7 am to 3 pm.
