Kolkata, September 28: Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha parliamentarian from Barasat Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar sparked a controversy when she accepted that she took money from as donation for election from Narada sting case accused Mathew Samuel. She also claimed that she has the receipts of the donations too, which she used for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Dastidar said, as quoted by ANI, "I accept that I had taken donations from Mathew Samuel, I have receipts too. All political parties accept donations to fight elections. I have taken money as a donation for election&have declared it to Election Commission." Earlier in the BJP leader Mukul Roy reached Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in Nizam Palace in Kolkata. Though he was called on Friday by the investigative agency for questioning in the Narada sting operation case, Roy had stated that he was busy in some political engagements.
The sting operation was conducted in 2014 by Samuels posing as a businessman. In the tapes, he was seen offering money to Trinamool leaders. The video clips came to be known as Narada scandal. The clips were aired before 2016 Bengal election. In 50-plus hours of footage, thirteen people were seen taking a total of Rs 60.5 lakh.
