Results for the Namakkal Lok Sabha Constituency in Tamil Nadu has been declared by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate AKP Chinraj has won this seat. The counting of votes for the Namakkal Lok Sabha Constituency began at 8 AM on Thursday, May 23. This is one of the 39 Parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu which went to poll on April 18 in the second phase. This constituency was a part of Rasipuram Lok Sabha in previous parliament Election.

Namakkal Lok Sabha Constituency which is numbered 16, consists of Sankagiri, Rasipuram, Senthamangalam, Namakkal, Paramathi-Velur and Tiruchengodu assembly segments. In the upcoming elections in 2019, AIADMK’s P Kaliappan is contesting from Namakkal seat. However, DMK's Stalin said the IUML and the KMDK will field their nominees from Ramanathapuram and Namakkal, respectively. The total number of voters in this constituency is 1,100,000.

According to ECI data, the total number of electorates in the Namakkal Lok Sabha Constituency are 1,075,526 of which 540,515 are males and 535,011 are females. One each of these segments is reserved for the SC and the ST categories respectively. Voting in all the 39 seats of Tamil Nadu will be held on April 18. The last day of filing nomination for the polls in March 26 while the last day of withdrawal of candidature is March 29.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Sundaram P.R of the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) had won the Namakkal seat. Sundaram  had defeated Gandhiselvan.S of the DMK and had won the seat by 563,272 votes.
