The Exit Polls have favoured the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to win the 2018 Telangana Assembly Elections, with the Indian National Congress (INC) on the second spot. The BJP might come into the picture if TRS doesn’t cross the halfway mark; however, which seems a far-fetched possibility as of now.
In the 2014 Assembly Elections in Telangana, it was Komatireddy Venkat Reddy from the Indian National Congress (INC) that won the Nalgonda seat. The Congress party has been winning the seat in the last four elections that took place in 2014, 2009, 2004, and 1999.
In the previous Assembly Election, it was TRS’ Koosukuntla Prabhakar Reddy who won the Munugode seat. Palvai Sravanthi, an Independent, lost the election by a considerable margin. It will be a multi-way tussle at Munugode among TRS, CPI, and the Independents.
In the Bhongir constituency, it was Pailla Shekar Reddy of TRS who defeated Jitta Bala Krishna Reddy Yuva Telangana Party comprehensively during the 2014 Assembly Elections. Until then, the Bhongir constituency was a TDP bastion for decades, as they won the elections in 2009, 2004, 1999, 1994, 1989, and 1985.
In the Nakrekal constituency, it was Vemula Veeresham of TRS that won against Chirumarthy Lingaiah of the Congress party in a closely-fought contest. In 2009, it was Chirumarthy who had won it then. The battle will be between TRS, Congress and CPM this time around.
In the Thungathurthy constituency, it was TRS’ Gadari Kishore Kumar who beat Congress’ Addanki Dayakar in a narrow-fight, during the 2014 Assembly Elections. In 2009, it was TDP who had won the Thungathurthy seat.
During the 2014 Assembly Elections, it was Gongidi Sunitha of TRS who defeated Budida Bikshamaiah of Congress clinically. Before that, it was Congress who had won the seat defeating the same opponent he lost to in the 2014 Assembly Polls. The fight is going to be between TRS and Congress, this time around.
On the Jangoan seat, it was Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy of TRS who defeated Ponnala Laksmaiah on Congress during the 2014 Assembly Elections. Before it, Congress had won the seat in three consecutive elections, i.e. 2009, 2004, and 1999.
