Nalanda, in the 2014 general elections, was won by JD(U) leader Kaushalendra Kumar with a narrow margin of over 9,000 votes.
Results of the Lok Sabha election in Nalanda, along with other parliamentary seats, has been declared by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Kaushlendra Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) has won the constituency. The seat went to polls on May 19, in the final phase of general elections. On April 22, the ECI would issue notification for the seventh phase of the elections. Nalanda is among the eight seats in Bihar which will be contested in this round of the polls. The last date of filing the nominations was April 29. The Mahagathbandhan had fielded HAM(S) leader Ashok Kumar Azad Chandravanshi from the Nalanda seat, whereas, the NDA candidates is JD(U)'s Kaushalendra Kumar.
