Kohima, March 3: The counting of votes for all the 59 out of the 60 constituencies of Nagaland will be held today. The Nagaland Assembly elections took place on 27 February 2018. The voter turnout was recorded to be 75% on the polling day. The counting of votes began at 8 am today. The polls were conducted for 59 seats in the House. The current term of Nagaland Legislative Assembly expires on March 13, 2018. The Election for the new assembly was held on Feb 27, 2018. The result of the election will be declared on March 3. Nagaland is under the rule of the Nagaland People's Front since 2014. The current Chief Minister is T. R. Zeliang.

Nagaland election result has always been in favour of Nagaland People Front's party. The party has a history of winning the polls with a clear-cut majority. In 2013 polls in the state, the party won 37 out of the total 60 seats in the polls, while others parties were far behind, winning seats in a scatter of 2, 4 or 8.
The NPF party is in the rule since 2008, except for a short period of a few months when the state was under the President's rule.The main contenders for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections in Nagaland are BJP, INC and the evident Nagaland People's Front. The most dominating party of the country presently, BJP has never formed the government in the state.
