The BPP-NDPP alliance is currently leading in Nagaland. As per details, Naga People’s Front (NPF) leader Y. Vikheho Swu has won Pughoboto constituency. The NPF leader scored 6,258 votes while BJP leader Dr. Sukhato A. Sema scored 6188 votes.
Former Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has already been declared the winner uncontested in the Northern Angami II constituency so elections were held in 59 seats. Kohima, March 3: The result of Nagaland Legislative Assembly election 2018 will be out today. The polling was held on 27 February 2018 in 59 out of 60 constituencies of Nagaland. The counting of votes is scheduled to take place today, i.e. March 3, 2018 which will decide the fate of 195 candidates in Nagaland. Currently, Nagaland is under the leadership of Chief Minister TR Zeliang, who belongs to the Naga People's Front. It must be noted that the tenure of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly ends on March 13, 2018.
On the polling day, Nagaland recorded 75 per cent voter’s turnout. As per details by the Election Commission, hundreds were still lined up to cast ballots at the end of voting hours. It must be noted that the scheduled election in Northern Angami II constituency did not take place as only incumbent MLA Neiphiu Rio was nominated and was therefore declared elected unopposed.

On the polling day, Nagaland was marred by a clash between supporters of the ruling Naga People's Front and the BJP in Zunheboto district. One person was shot dead and two persons were injured. In Nagaland, the total number voters is 11, 76,432 which comprises of 5,97,281 men, 5,79,151 women and 5,884 service voters. As per reports by PTI, Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer Abhijit Sinha said of the 2,156 polling stations in Nagaland, 1,100 have been declared critical, 530 vulnerable and 526 normal. Officials said many as 281 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), beside the state police force have been deployed throughout Nagaland to ensure peaceful polling.
