Mumbai, October 25: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra is set to retain power for a second consecutive term in the state. A day after the results were announced, a poster calling Aaditya Thackeray as future Chief Minister came up in Worli. The 29-year-old Thackeray was fielded by the Shiv Sena from the Worli constituency in south-central Mumbai.  According to figures by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 105 seats while ally Shiv Sena bagged 56 seats crossing the half-way mark of 144 seats. Maharashtra Assembly Elections Results 2019 Winners List Live: Names of Winning Candidates of BJP, Shiv Sena, Congress, NCP.

At present, Maharashtra is under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The term of the 288-member Maharashtra assembly ends on November 9. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Swabhimani Shetkari Party, CPI(M), Rashtriya Samaj Party, Jan Surajya Party and the Krantikari Shetkari Party have bagged one seat each.

Earlier this month, several posters of Thackeray greeting people 'How are you Worli?' were seen across Mumbai. The posters that were put up by Shiv Sena in the metropolis stated the same greeting in different languages, including Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu and Urdu.
