Patna, February 14: A day after veteran Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Mulayam Singh Yadav heaped praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior RJD leader and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi on Thursday downplayed the episode by saying Yadav's words have no meaning as he hardly remembers anything. Speaking on the last day of the 16th Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Mulayam Singh Yadav said, "I want to congratulate the PM that he tried to move ahead taking everyone along. I hope all members will to win and return, and you (PM Modi) become the prime minister again."
"Unki umar ho gayi hai. Yaad nahi rehta hai kab kya bol denge. Unki boli ka koi mayene nahi rakhta hai (Mulayam Singh Yadav has aged, his memory is fading. He does not remember what to speak and when to speak. His comments don't mean anything)," Rabri Devi, wife of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, told the media here. She also reiterated that the BJP-led NDA would be defeated in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh as well as across the country. "The Opposition is united in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and everywhere. Results of the 2019 polls will be different. It will not be a repeat 2014 at all," Rabri Devi said. She said the Grand Alliance will finalise its seat-sharing in Bihar for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls soon. "The Grand Alliance will trounce the NDA this time," she said. Rabri Devi's younger son Tejashwi Yadav is the Opposition leader in Bihar.
Rabri Devi also tried to send a political message that her party's stand against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP is same and that the RJD is with Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who has joined hands with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati to defeat the BJP. Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi thanked Mulayam Singh Yadav on Thursday.
Mulayam Singh understood the pulse of the people and knew that there was a wave in favour of the BJP-led NDA in the country ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Sushil Modi said.
