Mughal Gardens to be Renamed as Rajendra Prasad Udyan? This Government Official's Tweet Triggers Speculations

New Delhi, August 10: The iconic Mughal Gardens at Rashtrapati Bhavan may be renamed after Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. The Mughal Gardens may become Rajendra Prasad Udyan. Twitter is flooded with tweets that say the Mughal Gardens have been renamed as Rajendra Prasad Udyan. These reports surfaced after a government official made the announcement of changing name of Mughal Gardens.

"Superb! Mughal Gardens have been renamed as Rajendra Prasad Udyan," Atul Kushwaha, who works at the Ministry of Telecommunications, tweeted in Hindi on Friday. He also tagged Union Home Minister Amit Shah in his tweet. LatestLY could not verify the said development. Rose remains a key feature of the Mughal Gardens. Apart from roses, tulips, Asiatic lilies, daffodils, hyacinth and other seasonal flowers beautify the gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan. In August last year, the century-old iconic railway station, Mughalsarai, was renamed after Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhayaya. After Mughalsarai, the name of Allahabad was changed to Prayagraj. Proposals to change the names of Shimla, Aurangabad, and even the Taj Mahal are also in the works.
