The counting of votes in Mizoram to elect Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of the 40 constituencies in the state will be of utmost interest of all parties. The Congress and the Mizo National Front (MNF) have fielded 40 candidates each, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contesting in 39 seats, the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) in 35 and the National People's Party (NPP) in nine. In 2013, Congress had won 34 seats out of 40, while MNF managed 5 and Mizoram People's Conference (MPC) got 1 seat. In 2008, Congress was again in driver’s seat winning 32 seats out of 40 leaving MNF with 3, MPC with 2 and ZNP with 2, and Others 1. However, this time around in 2018 Mizoram Assembly Elections Results, exit polls hint at MNF pipping INC out of contention. MNF, a constituent of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the centre is expected to have the last laugh.
