Aizawl, December 10: With the Assembly elections in all the five states are over and the post-poll predictions are out, the countdown for the counting of votes has begun. The EC will start counting of votes from Tuesday morning by 8 am, and it is expected that the political cloud on who will form the government in the state will clear by noon.
According to the poll pundits, there is a high chance that it would a fractured mandate in the state, ending the 10-year-long tenure of Congress’ Lal Thanhawla, and paving the way for opposition Mizo National Front’s Pu Zoramthanga. However, no party can form the government, if believed by the post-poll surveys, unless Zoram Peoples' Movement (ZPM) chief Lalduhoma’s supports it.

Mizoram Exit Poll Predictions 2018
The exit polls have predicted a fractured mandate for the ruling Congress in Mizoram. According to the India Today- Axis exit poll, Congress is likely to get 8-12 seats in Mizoram, while with 16-22 seats MNF, there are high chances Zoramthanga might return to power after a gap of 10 years. Lalduhoma’s ZPM is most likely to get 8-12 seats and might play the role of kingmaker in the state.
However, according to Republic Tv-CVoter survey, Congress is most likely to get around 14-18 seats, while MNF might get between 16-20 seats. ZPM would clinch 3-7 constituencies, while others might win in three seats.

Who Will Be Next Mizoram Chief Minister?
Congress’ Lal Thanhawla is the current Chief Minister of Mizoram, ruling the state for last ten years, who is challenged by former chief minister from Mizo National Front’s Pu Zoramthanga. If Congress retains power in the state, Thanhawla will continue as the CM of the state; but if MNF secures more seats, Zoramthanga might seat on the CM’s throne. However, as per the post-poll predictions, ZPM’s Lalduhoma’s is most likely play the role of kingmaker in the state.
Previously in 2013, Congress had won 34 constituencies, while MNF could only manage seats. Others have secured to manage one seat. Voting percent in 2018 crossed 80 percent in the state.
