Raipur, February 25: India's first 'Miss TransQueen', Veena Sendre, has joined the Congress party (INC) in the presence of Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday. The 25-year-old Veena Sendre had created history after she became the first Miss TransQueen from India and has now taken the political plunge.
Sendre hails from Chhattisgarh, reported The Times of India. The official twitter handle of the Indian National Congress on Sunday tweeted after Sendre joined politics saying, Today Miss India 'Trans Queen' Veena Sendre joined the party expressing faith in the ideology of Congress."
Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel also tweeted about Veena Sendre joining Congress party. He congratulated Sendre and said that Sendre's achievements have brought glory for the state as well as the district Mandir Hausad.

Sendre was quoted as saying by the Times of India that she aim and motive behind joining politics is the empowerment of women and the transgender community. Her view was that the transgenders are not easily accepted by their own in the society and she wants to change that image of transgenders.
