Mumbai, October 9: The ‘Me Too’ movement has also gripped Indian politics. A female journalist has accused union minister MJ Akbar of making sexual advances when she was new to the profession. In an article which she wrote for Vogue, the woman alleged that Akbar, who was a senior journalist at that time called her for an interview in a hotel room in South Mumbai. As per her accounts, the union minister offered her a drink and also sang songs for her.

In an article she said, the incident took place in 1997, when she was a 23-year- old and Akbar was 43 years old. She also called Akbar a talented ‘predator’. The woman journalist also said that Akbar also asked her to sit beside him. Akbar later hired the woman for the job, and she worked under him for few months. The opposition parties also hit out at Akbar over the allegations posed by the journalist. Senior advocate and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha demanded that Akbar should respond to the allegations. As per reports, the NDA minister is currently out of the country, and he has not said anything on the charges levelled against him
